P&C

The Parent and Community Association (P&C) convenes monthly meetings on the fourth Monday of each school term at 6:30 PM, with the Annual General Meeting scheduled for March. We value in-person gatherings at the Administration Building while also embracing virtual Zoom meetings when required, welcoming both current and prospective members to join.

At Caningeraba, we foster collaboration among the school, committed volunteers, and the wider community to enrich our students' educational journey. Volunteers, in collaboration with staff overseeing services like the Tuckshop and Uniform Shop, bolstered by parent and community volunteers, play crucial roles in our initiatives.

The collective efforts of the P&C have led to significant school improvements in recent years, including renovations to the hall, upgrades to junior facilities, and enhancements to the Playground, Tennis Courts, and Basketball Backboards.

Our next ambitious project involves the installation of a new ninja-style adventure playground at the school. Through fundraising and community backing, we have made substantial progress and aim for even greater achievements with your ongoing support.

We firmly believe in the power of small actions to drive substantial changes, embodied in our "Just One Thing" campaign. Recognising the challenges of finding time to volunteer, we emphasise that every small step contributes to significant outcomes, nurturing a more vibrant school community. Every contribution to our P&C, regardless of its size, is highly valued.

You are invited to engage in various activities to support our school community:

  • Assisting in the tuckshop or uniform room.
  • Coordinating raffle prizes, sponsors, and donations.
  • Helping with fundraising events setup.
  • Operating the BBQ and serving food.
  • Planning and managing events.
  • Setting up and selling items at Mother's/Father's Day stalls.
  • Providing food for fundraising events.
  • Attending meetings and/or sub-committees.

FAQs
I only have limited time, how can I help?
Our "Just One Thing" initiative lists various ways of how you can contribute to improving our school. Small contributions can make a big difference.

I would like to help but I don't want to be a member.
You don't have to be a member to attend meetings or participate. However, only members can vote on motions at meetings.

I am new to town and don't know anybody.
P & Cs are one of the best places to meet other parents. We are an open and inclusive environment and no one will be harassed into volunteering.

Can I bring my kids to the meetings?
Absolutely, feel free to bring them along.

I hear meetings are long and boring.
We do our best to keep them short and succinct. They are an excellent way to keep informed about what is happening in our school.

I don't want to turn up and then be stuck doing everything.
There is no pressure on members/attendees to take on duties, it is solely on a volunteer basis.

What are the roles of the P&C executive and what is its purpose?
President, Vice President, Secretary & Treasurer. The executive takes care of all the procedural matters, running meetings, correspondence, paying bills, etc, and setting the overall direction for the P & C.
