School open following severe weather
Dear parents and carers,
As you would be aware, the effects of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred are being felt in many communities across South East Queensland.
Thankfully, I am writing to inform you that Caningeraba SS will be open tomorrow, Tuesday 11 March.
Safety assessments
All required safety and risk assessments have been conducted and I can confirm it is safe for students and staff to attend our school.
There may be some changes to assigned classrooms or other facilities as repairs are completed. Please rest assured that these changes have been made to limit any disruption to student learning. In some areas of the school, repairs are still underway. I would appreciate you reminding your children to stay away from areas that are fenced off or out of bounds while these repairs are completed.
Student absences
Please be mindful that some of our local roads and access to our school may be affected. If this weather event poses a danger to your child travelling to school, please notify the school of your child's absence as soon as possible.
Absences due to emergencies and natural disasters will not be recorded on a student's report card.
Uniforms and other equipment
We appreciate that some families may have lost school uniforms and other equipment. Students are able to wear casual clothes to school, however they must wear covered shoes and sun-safe clothing. If you need assistance with replacement uniforms or stationery, please let us know.
Transport services
If your child catches a bus or train to school, please check with your local transport service provider to confirm if their services will be operational tomorrow.
Monitoring the situation
Information about current weather conditions can be found on the Bureau of Meteorology website at www.bom.gov.au.
Health and wellbeing
It is incredibly important that you take time to look after yourselves and your families. I encourage you to access the information available for parents and students to support health and wellbeing during these difficult circumstances.
Thank you for your ongoing support and I look forward to seeing our wonderful students at school tomorrow.
Regards
Michelle Flynn
