Caningeraba’s Music program includes classroom music, instrumental music and choral music.
All lessons are aligned with current curriculum documents to encourage every child to succeed in their music education.
Classroom
Students participate in activities that involve singing, playing instruments, listening, moving, improvising and composing by selecting the music elements to express ideas through sound. They are assessed on their ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding, creating, presenting, responding and reflecting.
Learning experiences are personalised to cater for the developmental needs of each child. Our school also prioritises the use of ICT in Music and focuses on integrating literacy and numeracy to enhance overall outcomes. The curriculum is based on the Australian National Curriculum and is taught from Prep through to Year 6.
Instrumental Music
Caningeraba Instrumental Music program offers opportunities for students from Year 3 to Year 6 to participate in small group instrumental lessons and large ensemble rehearsals.
Strings: The strings program offers students from Year 3 to Year 6 the opportunity to learn the violin, viola, cello or double bass.
Band: The multi instrumental program offers students from Year 4 to Year 6 the opportunity to learn a concert band instrument. There are currently 4 ensembles; Year 4 Band, Year 5 Band, Year 6 Band and Jazz Band. Students can learn the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, baritone horn, trombone, bass guitar and percussion instruments.
