Welcome to Prep

At Caningeraba we aim to create a relaxed, secure and supportive environment where children are encouraged to investigate and explore to their individual potential.

These first years of formal education are full of adventure, discovery and growing independence. Substantial time is spent laying firm foundations of understanding within literacy and numeracy with the classroom teacher.

Our Prep year is a new learning environment with exciting things to do, see, touch and experience.  Your child will find friends to share with and teachers who respect them as capable and competent learners.  Learning involves developing a relationship of trust.  We aim to create a relaxed, secure and supportive environment where children are encouraged to investigate and explore to their individual potential.

Caningeraba preparatory teachers implement the content of the Australian Curriculum in the key learning areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Health & Physical Education, The Arts, Technologies (Digital and Design), History and Geography (HASS).

As well as engaging with the Australian Curriculum, our Prepstars will also learn to:

  • take on responsibilities

  • become more independent

  • respect other people

  • co-operate with others

  • make sensible choices about their health and safety

  • develop their physical skills

  • learn about their environment

  • develop their oral language

  • develop their early mathematical understanding

  • develop their early literacy understandings

  • learn how to be thinkers and problem solvers

  • use their imagination and creativity

Prep Orientation and Prep Experience Sessions

Prep Orientation Sessions

We look forward to meeting with parents and caregivers at either one of our Prep Orientation sessions on Wednesday 5 November 2025 at 9:00am or 6:00 pm in the school hall. These sessions are designed to answer any questions you may have about your child starting Prep next year. Your child is not required to attend this session and unfortunately we are unable to provide childcare facilities during our Prep Orientation session this year.

Prep Experience Sessions

We look forward to meeting your child at our Prep Experience Sessions. These sessions are designed for your child to have an opportunity to visit our school and participate in transition activities in a small group setting.

Prep Experience sessions will be held each morning (9:15am-10.45am) from Monday 10 November 2025 – Friday 21 November 2025 and will provide the opportunity for your child to become familiar with our school setting, meet our experienced staff and transition smoothly into Prep. Extra sessions will also be available Wednesdays and Fridays. These sessions will be 11:30am – 1:00pm. It is intended that your child attend ONE session in each week.

Prep Orientation Sessions (for Parent/Carer) and Prep Experience Sessions (for your child) MUST be booked online. You will be emailed a link to our online booking system in Term 4 once we have received your child's completed enrolment application.

Please note: In Term 4, if you have not yet completed your child's enrolment application and you wish to receive a link to the online booking system, please send your contact details (full name, relationship to child, best contact number and email address) to: preporientation@caningerabass.eq.edu.au and you will be sent an email with a link to the online booking system.
