At Caningeraba State School we teach the essential knowledge, understanding, skills and capabilities identified by The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Framework Essential Learnings for Languages.
Caningeraba State School offers a rich, real life French language program. Mrs Wada implemented a French immersion program called AIM (Accelerative Integrated Method). In this language program children use gestures, drama, music, dance and storytelling to express themselves orally in French from the first lesson. Vocabulary is learnt in visual, auditory and kinaesthetic ways. Students participate in all activities in the target language based on literature and drama. Hence, they act out plays, sing songs and play language games in French in the classroom. This story-based approach to language learning was selected due to its fast learning results, addressing best the different learning needs of all students.

Caningeraba State School offers an opportunity every second year for students to travel to Noumea and spend a week with a French homestay family selected by our sister school 'St Jean Baptiste.'

Don't miss out on this opportunity! We had the time of our lives. I was worried at first, but my family was so nice. They could speak a bit of English. We had some great adventures together, like going to the aquarium, visiting the Maitre Island and snorkelling. We visited a lot of other families with billets, so it was almost like a party every night. I will never forget this trip. By Ruby
