Our cross country day is designed for maximum participation for all our students and we encourage everyone to come along and give it a go!

The Cross Country. A great day full of fun and running with our friends and classmates in a competitive arena. A challenge for our students and one that helps to build resilience and grit. The competition can be within, trying your best and having a growth mindset.

To ensure we have challenge, as well as participation, we have distances for the students to run that are achievable but also allow our students who enjoy the long distances the chance to “stride it out".

The day is set out that we run in year levels and in the junior class, P-2, we run in class groups. The younger year levels are in class groups because it allows for students to easily be able to follow the track and not be jostled around by many bodies on the track. Every student receives a place ticket that identifies where they have placed.

Year 3 to Year 6 run in year levels and we allocate place ticket to every student and the top 10 students receive a place ribbon. We still record age placements from 10 yr -12 yr old for the district carnival but running as a year level allows students to be with their classmates and has removed the perceptions that Year 5 are running against Year 6 students etc.

You can help by encouraging your child to do some runs with you! It might be a good time to dust of those runners and head to the local park. Remember when you look at the timetable below and the distances, everyone can have a go, it is only a small part of the school day on we will look forward to encouraging your child in this event. Our day is designed for maximum participation for all our students and we encourage everyone to come along and give it a go!
