We have a dedicated Physical Education team and teachers who provide the opportunity for students to participate in an annual swimming carnival as part of our Physical Education program. The aim of the activity is to allow our students to compete and interact with peers in a safe, friendly environment. An emphasis in on involvement and inclusion and therefore we have 25m races for freestyle and breaststroke, 50m races in all the strokes. Children will be involved in swimming events and time permitting a designated free swim time. Extremely competent swimmers will be invited to compete in the 200m individual medley.
Students compete in age groups in the swimming carnival as we hold this event at the end of the year for Year 4 and Year 5 students, ready for our students to participate in the District carnival early in the new year. Please confirm with your child their age group so that they are aware of the races they will be competing in. Their age group is the age they are turning in this current calendar year.
Students will be transported both to and from the pool buses from our school. At the pool students will be provided shaded house areas when not competing. The carnival will take place at a local pool venue commencing at 9:30am, concluding at approximately 2:00pm.
Students need to wear a school hat and sunscreen, bring their own labelled water bottle and may come attired in their house colours. Students must bring a towel, which is to be named. They must also wear a rashie or T-shirt when not swimming.
The canteen at the pool will be available, but it is strongly suggested students bring their own lunch. Students are only able to access the canteen after the first session of races have been completed.
There will be an allocated area for parents/families who wish to watch the events on the day.
