Yes, we've done it AGAIN!
Yesterday I had the privilege of supervising 12 year 5 soccer 'athletes' up at Aspley Senior High School while they competed in the South East Queensland Primary School Football Championships.
These boys were undefeated in their Interschool Soccer games throughout Term 2, which lead them to a Crossover Grand Final against Currumbin SS. Their resounding success at this game meant they qualified in top spot for the SEQ Champs yesterday.
Our Team had to play 2 games to qualify for the grand final playoff. The first game was a bit of a challenge but an early goal lifted the team's spirit and they came home with a 2:1 win. The next game was a nervous start but the boys pulled together and focused on their excellent and accurate passing to romp it in with an 8:nil final score.
It was a very nervous wait, in the blistering heat (30*C) until the Grand Final played at 2pm against Mango Hill SS. A late goal to Caningeraba in the first half carried the mood and hunger for a win right through to the final siren with a convincing win and final score of 4:nil.
A HUGE congratulations to our soccer team for their immense skill but once again, I am so proud to have witnessed the wonderful sportsmanship this school prides itself on. Even in the face of some tough umpire calls, the boys focused on the game and their teamwork was their ultimate superpower.
A quick word must go out to the amazing families of these boys, such a dedicated, passionate and kind group of people who are the real powerhouse behind this team. They had marquees and chairs and eskies and trolleys and fruit and soooooooo much camaraderie it was very special. Our families are what really drives our Caningeraba community and it was such a wonderful experience to have witnessed.
Well done Caningeraba… Winners again!
