As global citizens, our school Library is taking action in our community to highlight positive choices around ethical consumerism. To this end, and to promote and celebrate reading at Caningeraba, we are holding the Caningeraba Book Swap

We aim to encourage students to value used books, as an alternative to always buying new ones. The event also cultivates the 5R's environmental message to Refuse, Reduce, Re-use, Repurpose, Recycle and fosters a sharing of literature.

Each student, if they are able, will be asked to donate a book/books from home. This is not mandatory and students are not expected to purchase books for the event. It is a great opportunity to go through home cupboards and bookshelves to find books that students have loved but have now outgrown or are ready to share with another student to love. Even if students are not able to donate books for the Book Swap, they will still have the opportunity to take a book home during the event.

The Caningeraba Book Swap will take place in Week 5, Term 2 (18 – 22 May). Students may bring in book donations to the library from the Monday before Book Swap Week (Monday 11 May). Please do not deliver any book donations before this date! There will be a large box on the higher library counter labelled Book Swap Donations, in which students can put their book/s. Books should be in good condition (no water damage or torn pages) and age appropriate for primary school students. Please check the book/s your child wishes to donate. We would hate for any family heirloom tomes to be donated by mistake! Further information and reminders will be provided closer to the event, via your classroom teacher.
