Caningeraba State School

From the 2025 P and C Executive

Unfortunately, the Caningeraba State School P&C Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for Monday evening was unable to proceed as the minimum number of members required to form a quorum was not met.

As a result, the meeting has now been rescheduled for Monday, 23 March, where we will again come together to formally close the 2025 year and elect the 2026 Executive.

While this is a procedural matter, it also provides a moment for reflection.

Across many schools and community organisations, participation is becoming more challenging as families balance busy schedules, work commitments and the many responsibilities of daily life. We are seeing this not only in meeting attendance, but also in volunteering at events and supporting the activities that help strengthen our school community.

The P&C exists to represent the collective voice of parents and carers and to support the school through running services such as the tuckshop and uniform shop, as well as events and projects that benefit students. These things only happen because members of the community step forward to help.

When more people are involved, the responsibility is shared, the workload becomes lighter, and the community has a stronger voice in shaping the opportunities available to our students.

We encourage anyone interested in being part of the P&C to attend the rescheduled AGM on Monday, 23 March. Whether you can contribute ideas, attend meetings, help occasionally at events, or simply stay informed, every level of involvement helps.

Our school community is strongest when we work together, and we welcome new members who would like to be part of supporting Caningeraba State School and its students.

Caningeraba P&C AGM – What Does Getting Involved Look Like?

Each year at the AGM, all Executive roles become vacant. This is a standard and important part of the process that allows for new voices, fresh ideas, and continued transparency in how the P&C operates.

Many parents and carers are curious about what these roles actually involve.

The P&C Executive team includes:

  • President –  leads the P&C, represents the association, encourages connection between parents, the P&C and the school and chairs meetings. This role helps guide the vision and activities of the P&C and support team collaboration.

  • Vice President – supports the President, helps lead the team and can step in when the President is unavailable. Depending on the P&C's needs, Vice-President's duties may be tailored to areas like fundraising or communications.

  • Secretary – Keeps the P&C organised — preparing agendas, recording minutes, managing correspondence and maintaining records. This role is key to smooth meeting operations and clear communications.

  • Treasurer – Manages the P&C's finances, ensuring funds are tracked accurately, budgets are prepared, and reports are ready for meetings. Good financial oversight helps support the tuckshop, events, equipment and other programs.

  ✨ Why does this matter?

These roles help shape our school community, support events and services, and give parents a voice in what matters at Caningeraba.

You don't have to take on a role to attend — you're welcome to come along, listen, ask questions, and see what speaks to you.

These roles are not about doing everything yourself - they are about working as part of a small, supportive team to coordinate the many contributions that already exist within our school community.

Be a General Member

Even if you don't want an Executive role, you can still be involved:

  • Sharing ideas
  • Supporting initiatives
  • Contributing to discussions
  • Being part of decisions that support students and school life

Importantly, attending the AGM does not mean you are committing to a role. It is simply an opportunity to learn more, ask questions, and understand how the P&C operates.

Membership
To participate in voting at the AGM (including for Executive roles), you must be a current P&C member.

Membership is open to all parents, carers, and members of the school community, and is renewed annually.

Membership forms are attached and must be submitted on or before the AGM to be eligible to vote.

We warmly invite anyone with an interest in our school community to attend.

The membership forms and Executive role nomination forms are attached.
