Tuesday 1 December (Week 9)
We are looking forward to our annual Swimming Carnival, which will be held at Somerset College on Tuesday 1 December. This is a wonderful opportunity for our Year 4 and Year 5 students to participate in a fun, safe and supportive environment, while building confidence, showing house spirit and enjoying time with their peers.
Students will compete in age groups of 9, 10 and 11 years, based on the age they are turning this calendar year. Events will include 25m freestyle and breaststroke, 50m events in all strokes, and, for selected highly competent swimmers, the 200m individual medley. If time permits, students will also enjoy designated free swim sessions.
Students will travel by bus to and from Somerset College and will have access to shaded house areas throughout the day. The carnival will begin at 9:30 am and conclude at approximately 2:00 pm.
Students should bring:
- school hat and sunscreen
- labelled water bottle and towel
- rash shirt or T-shirt to wear when not swimming
Students are welcome to wear their house colours.
A canteen will be available on the day, although bringing lunch from home is strongly encouraged. Students may access the canteen after the first session of races has finished.
Families are warmly welcome to attend, with an allocated spectator area available on the day.
