Earlier in the year in Global Citizenship, our year 4 students explored the issue of waste and discovered that what we often see as rubbish can actually be a valuable resource. As a follow up to this learning, Caningeraba State School has been invited to form a partnership with the Gold Coast's very own Advanced Resource Recovery Centre (ARRC) as they work to transform the way waste is managed across our city. To provide our students with the inside scoop on this homegrown initiative, the ARRC Community Engagement Team, recently visited our school and invited our students to think about how they might help share its story with our school community.

This term, as they investigate 'How can we influence change?', the students will learn more about the ARRC, and then use what they have learned to help celebrate this exciting initiative and encourage others to learn more about it too. In doing so, our students will experience first-hand how change can begin. They will discover that having a meaningful impact does not always require a grand gesture. Sometimes, it simply begins with being curious, recognising an opportunity to share information and being willing to take action.
