Caningeraba Students Checkmate the Competition!
A select group of our mightiest masterminds from Years 2–6 represented Caningeraba at the Interschool Age Championships held at Coomera Rivers State School on Tuesday 18 November, 2025.
Across seven intense rounds, our students battled kings, queens, knights and most fearsome of all the clock! This tournament was a little different from our usual format: instead of graded divisions and team results, students competed individually in strict age divisions. Our competitors ranged from the 2018 division all the way up to the 2013 division, proving that strategic brilliance comes in all sizes.
And… drumroll like a pawn marching bravely to promotion… we had some outstanding results:
2013 Division: Leo – Gold Medal
2014 Division: Finn – Merit Ribbon
2015 Division: Louie – Merit Ribbon
2016 Division: Isaac – Merit Ribbon
Not only did our students shine on the board, but they demonstrated wonderful Caningeraba spirit off it:
Xavi – Helping Heart Award – for showing compassion to others
Blake – Helping Hand Award – for providing practical assistance to others
A massive well done to all the students who represented our school with pride. You brought your brains, your bravery and your best behaviour and you definitely didn't “rook" around.
